Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your Stantinel account and the personal data associated with it. It applies to Stantinel Pets, Stantinel Care, and Stantinel Sitter.
You have two ways to request account deletion: from inside the app, or via the email-confirmation form on this page. Both flow through the same safeguards: a confirmation step proves you control the account email, and a 7-day cancellation window lets you back out if a request was made by mistake or by someone else.
1. Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open the Stantinel app on your phone.
- Sign in with the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Re-enter your password (or sign in again with Google/Apple) to prove the request is yours.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Your account is then scheduled for deletion in 7 days. We email you a one-click cancel link in case the request wasn't actually you. After the 7-day window expires, the data wipe runs automatically and completes within 90 days (see Timeline below).
2. Delete by email (if you can't access the app)
If you've lost access to the app or your device, you can start the deletion right here. Enter the email address registered to your Stantinel account — we'll send a confirmation link to that address that you must click to proceed:
For your privacy, the form responds the same way whether or not the email is registered, so it cannot be used to discover whether someone has an account.
Steps:
- Submit your email above. If it's registered, we send a confirmation email.
- Click the link in that email within 24 hours to confirm.
- Your account is then scheduled for deletion in 7 days. We email you a one-click cancel link in case the request wasn't you.
- After 7 days, the wipe runs automatically and completes within 90 days.
If the form on this page doesn't work for you, you can also email [email protected] from your registered email address with the subject "Account deletion request" and we will start the same flow on your behalf.
3. What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove the following:
- Your account record (email, display name, profile photo, sign-in method)
- Your phone number and verification state
- Your check-in schedules and full check-in history
- Your alert history (missed-check-in alerts, escalation events, resolutions)
- Your safety groups (contexts) where you are the sole owner
- Your emergency-contact relationships (you are removed from groups you are a contact in)
- Your pets and their emergency information (vet contacts, medical conditions, photos)
- Your QR tags (Pet Tags and Personal Emergency Tags) and the records of any scans performed against them
- Your push-notification tokens and device identifiers
- Your notification preferences and app settings
- Your subscription state (cached locally and at our subscription provider; see retention notes below)
- Any photos you uploaded (profile photo, pet photos)
4. What is retained, and why
A small amount of data is retained after account deletion, only when we are legally required to keep it or when retention is necessary to operate the service safely. None of this retained data is linkable back to your identity beyond what is required by law.
- Billing and tax records — if you ever made a paid purchase, the transaction record (purchase amount, currency, date, jurisdiction) is retained for up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting laws. This record does not include your email, name, or other identifiers we have removed.
- Audit and abuse-prevention logs — security logs (e.g. failed login attempts, suspicious request patterns) are retained for up to 90 days to defend the service against abuse. After 90 days they are deleted automatically.
- Anonymized aggregate metrics — if your past activity contributed to aggregate statistics (e.g. total number of check-ins performed in a given month), those statistics are retained but contain no personally-identifiable information.
- Backups — system backups may briefly contain your data after deletion. All backups are rotated within 90 days, after which any residual copy of your data is overwritten.
5. Deleting some of your data without deleting your account
You don't have to delete your whole account to remove specific data. From inside the app, you can at any time:
- Delete individual check-in schedules and their history
- Delete pets and their emergency information
- Delete or suspend QR tags and clear their scan history
- Remove emergency contacts from your groups, or remove yourself from groups where you are a contact
- Replace or remove your profile photo and pet photos
- Replace or remove your phone number
- Disable specific notification channels in Settings → Notifications
If you need help removing specific data that the app doesn't expose a control for, email [email protected] describing what you want removed.
6. Timeline
- Day 0 (request) — you submit the deletion request, either in the app or via the form in section 2. For email-based requests, a confirmation link is sent to your registered address.
- Within 24 hours — you must click the confirmation link in that email to proceed. If you don't, the link expires and the request is dropped (no further action). In-app requests skip this step because re-authentication already proved you control the account.
- 7-day cancellation window — once confirmed, your account is scheduled for deletion 7 days out. We email you a one-click cancel link, and you can also cancel any time from inside the app (Settings → Account). During this window your account remains fully usable.
- Day 7 (wipe begins) — if the request hasn't been cancelled, the data wipe starts. Your check-ins, contacts, pets, QR tags, scan events, and notifications are removed from active systems. We email you a final confirmation that the account has been deleted.
- Within 90 days (residual cleanup) — any residual copies of your data are removed from backups and async-cleanup queues. After 90 days, only the legally-required records described in section 4 remain.
If you change your mind during the 7-day cancellation window, use the cancel link in the scheduled-deletion email or the in-app cancel control. Once the wipe has started, restoration is no longer possible.
